2008
Aviko acquires Eurofreez, Belgian producer of a range of frozen potato specialties. Eurofreez provides Aviko convenience products, cheese, chicken and prawn croquettes and mashed potato to which spinach and carrots have been added. In February Aviko opens her first production facility in Asia, China.
2007
Grading station in place Steenderen. In 2007 Aviko processed 1.7 million tons of potatoes: over sixty thousand lorries with a combined length of over one thousand kilometres, making the company the world’s third largest potato processor.
2002
Aviko was taken over completely by Royal Cosun in 2002. Royal Cosun, which at the time was still known as Suiker Unie, had had a 30% interest in Aviko since 1990.
2001
Aviko takes a 100% interest in the Boots Pommes Fritesman (B.P.F.) Group. Another boost to our international renown in the fresh French fries market. Our close-knit chilled distribution network for fresh French fries was already unparalleled in Europe, but this gives it new impetus.
2000
Our brand-new factory in Rain am Lech (Germany) is officially opened. Aviko also obtains NEN-EN-ISO 14001 certification for environmental protection.

Royal Cosun
Strong and pro-active
Aviko was taken over completely by Royal Cosun in 2002. Cosun was set up by Dutch arable farmers about 100 years ago. It still has strong roots in the arable farming sector.
Cosun produces and sells natural ingredients and foodstuffs for the international food industry, foodservice channel (restaurants, caterers and wholesalers) and retail outlets. The group also processes organic residues into products for non-food applications.
Its activities are organised into four groups:
* Basic ingredients, sugar en inulin (Suiker Unie and Sensus).
* Industrial alcohol and bioethanol (Royal Nedalco).
* Potato products, including chilled, frozen and dried potato products and a wide range of other prepared potato specialities (Aviko).
* Compound ingredients, including fine bakery specialities, toppings and fruit & vegetable applications (Unifine Food & Bake Ingredients and SVZ).
As a specialist in the taste, functionality and health of ingredients, Royal Cosun develops products concepts and applications that meet its customers’ specific wishes,
Royal Cosun’s marketing and research expertise is at the service of today’s and tomorrow’s food market. This expertise has been concentrated around specific customer groups and applications. For research and quality control, we have our own research and development organisation, Cosun Food Technology Centre (CFTC).
The group as a whole achieved a turnover of EUR 1.7 billion in 2007 (an increase of 17% on 2006) and has an average workforce of 4,300 FTEs.

Aviko Potato B.V.
Aviko Potato contracts potatoes from pre selected growers all over Europe. It also supplies growers with seed potatoes and provides support for cultivation. Together with its growers, Aviko Potato B.V. forms the basis for all the value creation in the chain.
It sells a total of about 1,200,000 tonnes of potatoes per annum. In addition to supplying the Aviko factories, Aviko Potato B.V. primarily supplies industrial customers in Europe.
Aviko Lomm – Lord Chips
The Aviko plant in Lomm (formerly known as De Fritesspecialist) has been producing the very best fresh potato products for professional and home use since the 1950s.
Under the Lord Chips brand among others, these fresh potato products are supplied to professional users such as snackbars, restaurants, institutions and entertainment parks through wholesalers.

Rixona B.V., Warffum
Rixona B.V. produces most of the Aviko Group's potato granulate.
About 80% of its total production is sold as a raw material to producers of snacks, soups, catering products, bakery products and ready-to-eat products.
20% of the powder is sold as a raw material for producing the special RAS® products for the hotel and catering industry, snackbars and other institutions.

The Polish branch is a fifty/fifty joint venture in a production location. This joint venture also includes a large arable farm in Poland.
The production location in Poland produces a large proportion of our products for the retail and food service market in central and eastern Europe.
Aviko, Cuijk
Formerly known as The European Potato Company, or EPC B.V., Aviko Cuijk supplies the wholesale trade, the ready-made salad and convenience food industries and the consumer with a wide range of finished and semi-finished products.
Aviko Cuijk supplies vacuum-sealed potatoes and potato products in an efficient, high-tech, high-quality production process. The company meets the strictest European and American food hygiene and quality standards.
Duynie B.V., Alphen a/d Rijn
Duynie B.V. specialises in 100% vegetable-based by-products for animal feed.
In this way, the peelings from potato processing find their way to cattle farmers. Duynie B.V. thus helps us to make use of 100% of every potato. Duynie also supplies by-products from the canning and wheat processing industries directly to cattle farms along with specialist advice from animal feed experts.
