Organisations such as Coeliac UK work tirelessly to raise awareness of the disease, a potentially life-threatening intolerance to the gluten protein found in wheat and many other grains, and will soon be launching this year's Coeliac Awareness Week (12th - 18th May 2014). Currently worth around £136m^, having grown by 229% in the last 10 years*, Kantar World Panel believes the market for gluten-free foods could grow to £519m by 2016 - boosted by the growing number of people diagnosed with the disease, as well as those who avoid gluten for lifestyle reasons.
Mohammed Essa, Aviko General Manager, explains: "It's essential that caterers tap into this market to increase traffic through the door and subsequently maximise profit. Pubs, restaurants and other food outlets can be safe in the knowledge that our most popular products - Premium Fries, Mash, Hash Browns and Wedges - are gluten-free and importantly, don't compromise on taste or quality. We are also supporting caterers this National Coeliac Awareness Week with free point-of-sale materials to help them shout about their gluten-free menu choices."
Available to download at www.aviko.co.uk/downloads, the colourful posters and tent cards will encourage diners to try Aviko's delicious range of gluten-free offering including wedges, which come in a variety of flavours: Skin On or Off, Spicy, Crinkle, Tex Mex, Garlic & Herb, Steam and Fresh Wedges, as well as Mega Wedges.
